A local historical group is taking a big step in recognizing a resident from Gravenhurst’s past.
The Town of Gravenhurst recently received a request to rename the gazebo and surrounding area at Muskoka Wharf to A.P. Cockburn Square.
Cockburn enthusiast Mary Storey says this is just the first of many opportunities to recognize the historical figure.
The town is providing residents with a chance to speak to council about this suggested name change.

You must contact the town by the end of the day on April 15th in order to have an opportunity to speak.
Council will meet with the Cockburn historical committee and residents on April 19th during the Committee of the Whole meeting.
