St. Mary School wins $10,000 in nationwide contest

St. Mary Catholic School staff and students are accepting a $10,000 prize today. Grade 7/8 teacher Andrew Foxcroft and his class entered into the Canadian Geographic’s Classroom Energy Diet Contest. The class submitted a proposal into the Green Your School Category and won. Their idea was to build and outdoor classroom with things like large stone seating, vegetable garden and a small greenhouse.

Principal Cathy Vanclieaf says they’re proud of the students caring and concern for our environment. The Canadian Geographic Classroom Energy Diet is a nationwide contest to promote energy conservation and eco-living.

It’s not the first time Foxcroft’s class had won. His class won last year’s Canadian Geographic’s Energy Diet contest and $5,000.
