Warmer weather prompting caution about water levels in Parry Sound and Muskoka

Residents in Parry Sound and Muskoka are being warned about watershed conditions.

Increasing water levels and flow conditions, typical of this time of year, exist throughout the area and residents are reminded to keep a close watch on conditions and exercise caution near fast-moving rivers and streams.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says flooding is not a concern at this time and if we experience more mild temperatures in the absence of significant rainfall, it should result in a slow melting of the snow pack and a steady and predictable rate of rise in local lakes and rivers.

Residents and those visiting the area are advised to be aware of current watershed conditions, exercise caution while around water bodies and maintain close supervision of children and pets.
