Snowmobiler dies trying to help others on Georgian Bay

Another snowmobiler has died on Georgian Bay.

Yesterday around 6:45pm, Southern Georgian Bay OPP was called to the east side of Methodist Island near Victoria Harbour where a snowmobile went through the ice.

An investigation found four men were travelling on two snowmobiles when one sled broke through the ice.

The other snowmobile stopped to help and the driver of the second sled also fell through the ice.

Three of the four men made it to shore safely, but a 48-year-old man died helping the others get out.

The investigation is continuing and the identity of the victim is being withheld until next of kin have been notified.
