It’s an award to recognize green efforts. Yesterday, Georgian College was named one of Canada’s greenest employers for 2014. This award recognizes employers that make environmental values part of their organizational culture.

Environmental Sustainability Coordinator Dianne Corrigan says Georgian continues to be recognized for its commitment to reducing its environmental impact and having environmentally responsible business activities. This includes converting pre-consumer food waste at the Barrie and Orillia campuses into bio-fuel and being a ‘greening’ sponsor of the Mariposa Folk Festival in Orillia.

The college also has a cell phone and e-waste drop off at the Barrie, Orillia and Owen Sound campuses. Funds raised from this program go towards the student food locker program at each campus.
