The number of impaired driving charges have gone up in the Township of Lake of Bays.
During their regular council meeting, Huntsville OPP brought their fourth quarter numbers from 2015. Staff Sergeant John-Paul Graham told councilors the number of charges went up from 75 in 2014 to over 100.
Deputy Mayor Nancy Tapley says this stat is very dangerous and she is concerned for the other drivers on the road.
In the report, police arrested over 2,000 drivers for speeding and other highway traffic acts. Sergeant Graham says officers are being very proactive by setting up more R.I.D.E. programs throughout the area to reduce impaired driving.
