Elementary Teachers Reach Tentative Deal with Province and School Board Associations
Strike actions at Trillium Lakelands District School Board elementary schools are being suspended.
Yesterday, the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario reached a tentative deal with the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association and the provincial government. ETFO will review the tentative agreement with its local leaders and members before making further comments.
Union president Sam Hammond says local leaders will now focus their efforts on reaching agreements in their respective school boards. An all-member vote among teachers and occasional teachers will be held about the tentative agreement with the results of that vote expected in mid-November.
The union represents 78,000 elementary public school teachers, occasional teachers, and education professionals across the province who have been without a contract since August 31st of last year.
