Many residents around the Pine Street area may have heard shots being fired last night.
According to reports a bear was shot by a man near Sander Drive and Pinewood.
Mike McIntosh with the animal rescue Bear With Us, says he was called out to the scene where the body of the mother bear was lying dead.
Jolanata Kowalski with the Ministry of Natural Resources confirms that officials are on scene investigating.

McIntosh says he will be searching for two cubs that are reportedly still alive so he can bring them to his rescue.
There is no word at this time on if charges will be laid.
