A butcher in Port Carling is not concerned about the recent announcement linking processed meats to bowel cancer.
Richard Stephens with Stephen’s Butcher Shop in Port Carling says their meats don’t fall into that category.
Stephens says fresh cut meats are free of preservatives that are in the cancer-linked processed meats.
On Monday it was announced that the World Health Organization had put processed meats on the same level as cigarettes and asbestos in terms of cancer causing agents.
