Development is on the rise in Gravenhurst

Development is on the rise in Gravenhurst. In 2013 Gravenhurst Development Services saw an 8.8 percent jump in issued building permits over the year before. Scott Lucas, Director of Development Services says 739 building permits were issued during this time. Of that 42 were commercial and 682 were residential. Lucas adds that the increase may be because of good weather, improving economic conditions and changes to the planning process. Some of the bigger development projects include renovations at Taboo Resort, construction of new buildings at Beaver Creek Medium and Minimum Institution and a number of large cottages. The overall value of the permits issued topped
