Owners of a cottage in Gravenhurst are very lucky to have not lost the entire building.
On Saturday evening crews from two departments in Gravenhurst were called to the cottage on Brydons Bay Road.
A fire had started underneath the porch and crews were able to bring it under control using a portable extinguisher before cutting into the porch and putting it out with the hoses.
The fire did not spread to the interior of the cottage and caused about $1,500 in damages.
Fire officials believe the fire was started by careless use of smokers materials.
