OPP charge Bracebridge man in five-year-old arson investigation

A 55-year-old is facing various charges including arson following a four-month investigation by various OPP units.

Brian Coldin was arrested by OPP after an investigation led by Detective Inspector Martin Graham of the Criminal Investigation Branch was concluded.

Graham led a team of units including forensics, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear, Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and others to complete the four-month investigation into two fires that happened in 2010.

A home on High Falls Resort, on Brodie Crescent in Bracebridge was searched on September 9th and Coldin was soon arrested afterwards.

These fires broke out at homes in the area of Brodie Crescent and Fallsview Road in Bracebridge.

Coldin faces a list of charges including two counts of arson, fraud and illegal possession and unsafe storage of a firearm.

He made his first court appearance in Bracebridge on September 11th.

OPP is asking for anyone with additional information into these fires to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
