Local woman helps save a police officer shot in a Brampton court

A shooting in a Brampton courthouse on Friday has a local twist.
A mystery woman, thought to be a nurse, who helped a shot Peel Region police officer has turned out to be Dunchurch resident Linda Hunt. The Toronto Sun reports Linda was at the courthouse when the shooting happened when she used her first aid training from 28 years ago to help the officer. She told the paper she heard seven shots and saw the officer bleeding and knew if she didn’t do anything, he would have bled out. She put her hand on the wound and applied pressure until EMS arrived.
Linda has already spoken to the SIU who is investigating after the gunman was shot and killed and she’s expected to speak with Peel police today.
