The OPP is reminding everyone that scams don’t just happen over your phone, it can happen online.
Just by clicking on types of emails or pop-up notifications sent, could allow hackers to access any information stored on the device.
Police are reminding you to take certain steps to secure your device such as; changing your password every 90 days, make sure an updated version of anti-virus has been installed. Also, if you think your device has been hacked or copied, change all passwords including those on banking and credit card sites.
These tips are part of the OPP’s Recognize it, Report it, Stop it fraud campaign.
