YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka Opens Its Doors for Healthy Kids Day

On June 7, the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka will join YMCAs across Canada in hosting the YMCA Healthy Kids Day.

This free community event is designed to help kids and families embrace healthy habits that can become a lifelong practice.

The main goal is to focus on fun and engaging activities, practical information and simple ways to be healthier, most children do not meet recommended levels of daily physical activity.

With the rising rates of obesity and related chronic disease the YMCA explains that getting kids active should be a top priority for parents, schools, and all Canadians.

“Our children’s health is very important to us. The Y is there to support families – it can be a challenge for parents to do it on their own,” says Karen Pulla, Vice President of Health, Wellness & Community Recreation Programs, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.

“On June 7th, YMCAs across Canada are opening their doors for free to the community to celebrate Healthy Kids Day. It’s a chance for parents to connect, learn about healthy habits, and get the whole family active together under one roof.”

YMCA Healthy Kids Day places special emphasis on teaching children, youth and their families about exploring healthy living habits that will make a difference throughout the year.
