ETFO strike action planned to start Monday

ETFO teacher and occasional teacher members will start strike action on Monday. That news has been sent to members by Union President Sam Hammond via an automated call last night. The job action will start with the removal of administrative services – the union’s position is that it has bargained for settlements and not strikes. Reportedly, teachers will not conduct EQAO-related activities, prepare report card comments or attend staff or grade meetings once the strike action starts. The strike action will be province wide and will include members with Trillium Lakelands District School Board. We will bring you their representative’s comments on how many teachers in our area will be affected as soon as we can. EQAO testing at the elementary school level was scheduled for May 25th until June 5th. Across the Province, 73,000 full time and occasional teachers will be in a legal strike position on Monday. Early childhood educators, education support personnel and professional support personnel members won’t be participating in the job action.
