World Autism Day next month

Local municipalities are supporting World Autism Day.  Municipality of McDougall councillor Peter Daleman will be raising the Autism flag on April 2nd at noon with the help of 10-year-old Malcolm Harrington for Autism Ontario.  Malcolm is a grade 5 student at Nobel Public school and was diagnosed with autism just before his ninth birthday and also has an older brother and two older cousins with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Today, 1 in 94 children in Canada are diagnosed with Autism and Autism Ontario hopes to increase opportunities and acceptance through public awareness.  The Autism flag will be raised at the McDougall municipal building at noon with a brief introduction ahead of time on April 2nd.  The Town of Parry Sound also passed a resolution to recognize April 2nd as World Autism Awareness Day.
