The Chamber and Rotary hope for a new bandshell in Huntsville

Huntsville is closer to getting a more permanent bandshell for River Mill Park. Executive Director for the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce Kelly Haywood says River Mill Park has already become the epicentre of downtown.

This is a joint effort between the Chamber and the Rotary Club of Huntsville. Rotarian and GM of the Huntsville Festival of the Arts, Rob Saunders says the community has agreed we need a more permanent bandshell.

The new bandshell would located across from were the current clamshell is located.

Council approved this initiative in principal at the General Committee meeting on Wednesday, April 29. The current estimate to build the new structure would be about $100,000, which would be funded through the Chamber and Rotary Club. Haywood says they are looking at getting some FedNor funding as well. If approved, the build in the fall to get it ready for next summer.
