Silt buildup at mouth of the Muskoka River raising concern in Bracebridge

Increased silt build-up at the mouth of the Muskoka River is causing concern in Bracebridge. Now the Town is going to hold two Open Houses on the issue to hear residents’ concerns – One’s happening in May and the other in July. Due to recent floods and high water flows, there’s more silt accumulating at the mouth of the river where it joins Lake Muskoka. Due to the build-up, it’s said it’s now possible to wade across the river during the late summer months due to the river’s shallow depth. This is posing navigation and safety risks to boaters. The Open houses are happening on May 5th and July 18th.The May meeting happens at 7pm at council chambers. The July meeting happens at council chambers at 10:30am.
