ARC votes on what should happen to certain Almaguin schools

After almost a year of meetings and consultations, the Burk’s Falls Area Schools Accommodation Review Committee has made a decision. At last night’s final meeting, the ARC voted in favour of closing M.A. Wittick and moving the Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 students to Land of Lakes Public. This is not in keeping with what the Near North District School Board wants, which is to close both M.A. Wittick and Magnetawan Central and send the Grade 7/8 students to Almaguin Highlands Secondary School. The ARC will present their recommendation to the school board next month, with the board expected to make their final decision by the end of June.
