Oppositions against OPP funding model rise in Segwin

Seguin residents are encouraged to send letters to the government to oppose the new OPP funding model. In that town, policing costs would triple from approximately $600,000 annually to $1.8 Million.  To make thar work, council would have to implement an 11 per cent tax hike or significantly cut programming and services. Council opposes this new model and is asking residents to take part in a letter writing campaign to send concerns to the Premier, our MPP, and the Minister responsible for the OPP. For details on how to take part and for all of the prepared documents, visit the town’s website www.seguin.ca.
