Police involved in early morning pursuit after fire rips through Baldwin Road home

Bracebridge OPP are searching for the owner of a silver Dodge pickup truck that was involved in a police pursuit after an early morning fire. Bracebridge OPP say they were notified by the Muskoka Lakes Fire Department this morning at 12:40am after a neighbour reported a fire at 1101 Baldwin Road, near Highway 118 West towards Port Carling. The fire was fully engulfed when crews arrived – the home was destroyed and damage is pegged at $500,000. No one was in the residence at the time and the Fire Marshall’s Office will investigate.

Bracebridge OPP soon learned that Barrie OPP were involved in a suspect apprehension pursuit on Hwy 11 around 1:30am – the last dispatch had police chasing a silver pick-up truck that was heading southbound – Bracebridge OPP say police were not successful in stopping the vehicle and called off the pursuit due to safety. Officers terminated the pursuit at Highway 11 southbound and the County Road 93 overpass. Barrie OPP then notified Bracebridge OPP that they may want to speak with the male owner of that vehicle in relation to the fire investigation.The vehicle in question is a 2005 Silver Dodge Ram pick-up truck bearing Ontario Marker 3446YJ and is registered to 58 year-old Thomas Lustvee of Muskoka Lakes Township.
