Minden man accused in BC child killings seeks bail

The former Minden resident facing first-degree murder charges of two young BC girls wants to be released before his case goes to trial. Garry Handlen was arrested in November just a week after he was last seen in Minden. The Crown plans to oppose his request for release due to public safety. Handlen’s case was moved up to the Supreme Court in March after a direct indictment was filed by the Criminal Justice Branch. A bail hearing has been set for mid-May.
