It’s a number everyone should memorize. A Muskoka Forest fire Danger Hot-line is now available. Local fire officials say the fire season has started and that the risk of grass, brush and forest fires will soon increase. Rob King, Gravenhurst’s Fire Prevention Officer, says the dead grass and brush, along with the top layer of the forest ground cover is especially susceptible to fires this time of year. You are urged to take caution with annual spring clean-up efforts around homes and cottages. The Muskoka Forest Fire Danger toll-free ‘Hot Line’ is 1-877-847-1577. The public should check the hot-line before lighting any fire to see if a fire ban’s been declared. For more information call your local Town’s by-law
department.
