Gravenhurst cautions homeowners to prepare for basement flooding

The town of Gravenhurst is warning homeowners to be prepared for basement flooding. Candace Thwaites, Emergency Management Co-ordinator says the town is being cautious to make sure everyone is prepared for the extra snowmelt after this year’s snowfall.  Severe weather events that lead to basement flooding are hard to predict. Thwaites says, in many cases home basement flooding is also uninsurable. Thwaites suggests that you speak with your broker to make sure you’re covered for sewer backup damages.
