Third meeting on local healthcare planning happens tonight in Huntsville

The third and final ‘planning for local healthcare’ meeting goes tonight in Huntsville. Already this week meetings have been held in Gravenhurst and Bracebridge and organizers want as many residents out tonight at Huntsville’s Actve Living Centre as is possible. According to Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare, there are several future options for Muskoka’s two existing hospital sites. The first would be to build a brand new acute care hospital at an as yet undetermined location leaving the existing hospitals surplus. Options 2 and 3 would see one hospital become an ambulatory site while the other would stay an acute care site. A fourth option, which would carry the highest price tag at $540 million, would see both hospital sites remain open as acute care sites. Tonight’s meeting in Huntsville is on the Active Living Centre’s 1st floor and it starts at 7pm.
