Muskoka Arts & Crafts’ 38th Annual Spring Members’ Show will be a celebration on two fronts. Not only will it be an amazing display for the talent and efforts of the artists that call Muskoka home, but it will also herald the end of winter – And that is always worth celebrating.

According to organizers, the show displays the strength, vitality, creativity and wealth of talent found within Muskoka Arts & Crafts. The diverse and outstanding work by the members creates an exciting three-day exhibition from March 27 to 29 at the Bracebridge Sportsplex. 100 members will have their work in the show that will include jewellery, painting, photography, clothing, furniture, pottery, sculpture, drawing and so much more.

The show begins on Friday when the doors open at 7pm for the Opening Reception & Awards Presentation. The results of the all-day deliberations by the judges – Charles O’Neil and John David Anderson – will be announced and the awards presented in acknowledgement of the outstanding artistry.

After the awards presentation, the band Moonglow takes the stage to provide an evening of toe-tapping music as the artists and the public mingle to share ideas about the work on hand as well as creativity in general.

Chef David Friesen is the Executive Chef and owner of Riverwalk Fine Dining in Bracebridge is catering the opening reception. He is an advocate of incorporating local ingredients in menu planning. David brims with new ideas and has an insatiable appetite for a culinary challenge.

Throughout Saturday, and Sunday, members will be at the show offering demonstrations of their techniques and artistry. In addition to the work on display, these demonstrations are an inspiring and educational glimpse into the creative world.

“The show is a labour of love by our members who volunteer their time, energy, expertise, and enthusiasm to set up and manage this gala exhibition,” remarks Elene Freer, the organization’s Executive Director. “During the show, our members are present to welcome you to the show, answer your questions and help should you decide to purchase one of the pieces of art.”
