MAHC holding three public information nights on local healthcare this week

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is holding three public information meetings this week to give residents an overview of future healthcare planning. We spoke with Harold Featherston, MAHC’s Chief Executive, Diagnostics, Ambulatory & Planning about the first meeting, which takes place Monday….

Currently four options which would affect hospitals in Bracebridge and Huntsville are being looked at – one would see a new acute care hospital on a single new site in Muskoka, making the current hospitals surplus. Two other options would see one of the existing hospitals become an ambulatory site, while the other site would remain a hospital. A fourth option is to keep both Huntsville and Bracebridge hospitals open as acute care sites. The second public meeting goes March 24th between 7 and 9 at the Bracebridge Sportsplex and the third happens March 25th at the Huntsville Active Living Centre.
