Muskoka Freestyle Team heading to Canadian Junior Championships

Two members of Muskoka’s Freestyle Team based at the Muskoka Ski Club (MSC) are headed to the McDonald’s Canadian Junior Freestyle Championships at Le Relais in Lac-Beauport, Quebec.
The competition happens from March 12th to 16th. Brothers Stephen and Mark Draper, aged 17 and 15, will compete in the Slopestyle and Big Air competitions on March 12th and 13th. More than
200 competitors will vie for top spot in Slopestyle, Moguls, Dual Moguls and Aerials. The Muskoka Freestyle Team, based out of Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area & the Muskoka Ski Club (MSC), also had a strong showing at the Provincial Championships and Ontario Winter Games at Mount St. Louis Moonstone.

Seven athletes competed and their placements in their respective age categories were:

Stephen Draper – 3rd in the M2 (16-18 years) category
Mark Draper – 2nd in the M3 (14-15 years) category
James Eydt – 6th in the M3 (14-15 years) category
Ethan Murdy – 12th in the M3 (14-15 years) category
Jack Long – 13th in the M4 (12-13 years) category
Eric O’Brien – 14th in the M4 (12-13 years) category
Kyle Mattice – 2nd in the M6 (8-9 years) category

Three MSC athletes also placed at the Ontario Winter Games:

Mark Draper – 2nd in the M3 (14-15 years) category
James Eydt – 7th in the M3 (14-15 years) category
Ethan Murdy – 11th in the M3 (14-15 years) category
