OPP urging snowmobile safety this March Break

Local police want snowmobilers to be safe this March Break and for the rest of the season. The OPP has investigated two snowmobile fatalities and responded to 55 crashes across the region this winter and officers say weather conditions, speed, and alcohol remain contributing factors in the majority of collisions. Snowmobilers are reminded to never mix drinking or drugs with operating a snowmobile, respect other trail users such as skiers, pedestrians, and private land owners, and ensure that you wear protective gear including a helmet that fits you.
