Menominee Lake cottage destroyed by fire
By the time fire crews from Baysville reached a cottage reported on fire last night, there was nothing left but ashes. Saturday night the Lake Of Bays fire department received a call about a structure fire on the South side of Menominee Lake in Lake Of Bays township. Crews found a private road with no winter maintenances so the crews had to walk in to find the fire. While walking in, crews found that a tree had fallen over hydro lines leaving live wires blocking their access. It took crews over an hour to finally reach the cottage and by that time there was nothing left but ashes.
No one was at the cottage at the time of the fire and it is believed that downed power lines were a contributing factor in the cause of the blaze.
