MAHC responds to replacement of chemotherapy services

Muskoka Algonquin Health Care (MAHC) officials say the decision to move chemotherapy services from Bracebridge to Huntsville wasn’t made lightly. MAHC Board Chair Larry Saunders has responded to Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith who had written the board with his concerns. Saunders writes that the relocation of chemo to Huntsville hospital was decided following several discussions and an independent review. At a recent meeting, Saunders says a delegation against the move was heard by the board. They also received a petition against the relocation which was signed by 782 people. Saunders adds that MAHC is looking at a number of options when it comes to providing local clinical services over the next 25 years. He says the next step of that will involve public feedback.
