Bracebridge looking to Province to help fund bus service start-up costs
Bracebridge wants the province to take a closer look at how it helps fund start-up bus services. Mayor Graydon Smith and others were able to address the issue recently in Toronto. Currently there’s gas tax transfer money available to fund parts of existing transit system operating costs, but no money for start-up bus systems. Bracebridge is hoping to get its own bus system off the ground in the next couple of years. More from Mayor Smith.
The current plan would see Bracebridge fund a new bus system’s start-up costs in 2016 to the tune of $353,000 and over $160,000 each year for two years following that
