Huntsville Fire Chief says daylight savings is a reminder to change batteries in smoke alarms
Daylight savings is this weekend and the Huntsville Fire Department is reminding homeowners to change smoke alarm batteries. Fire Chief Steve Hernen says at least once a year, old batteries need to be replaced. When you change your clocks this weekend it’s a good time to put in new batteries. It’s also the law to have working smoke alarms on every storey of a home and outside all sleeping areas. Tampering with, or removing batteries from your smoke alarms is illegal and fines can range between $235 to $50,000.
