The OPP to launch Distracted Driving Campaign
The OPP is launching a Distracted Driving Campaign over the March Break. Central Region Media Coordinator Sergeant Peter Leon says distracted driving is now the leading cause of death on Ontario roads.
Leon says being distracted can be anything from texting, talking on the phone or even eating.
If caught you will be fined $155, but that will jump to $280 by March 18th. Not only will police ramp up efforts to stop distracted driving, Leon says they won`t be able to do it alone. He says citizens can help.
The campaign kicks off Saturday and runs until Friday, March 14th.
