Man faces fine for shooting a white-tailed deer without a licence

A Rosseau man has to fork over $1,000 for hunting a white-tailed deer illegally. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the man shot the deer with his crossbow on Dec. 14th in the Coate Road area of Muskoka Lakes Township in Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) 53A. However, as the man only had an antlerless deer tag for WMU 49, he did not have a valid licence to shoot that deer. Timothy Fraser pleaded guilty to the offence. He also can’t hunt in Ontario for a year.
