CCAC strike continues in Gravenhurst today

Community Care Access Centre nurses continue to strike in Muskoka. The labour dispute between nine CCACs and their ONA nurses is now into its 12th day with no near end in sight. ONA First Vice President Vicki McKenna says it shouldn’t be hard to reach a settlement as one group has already ratified a deal with their local CCAC, but each negotiation is different.

The North East CCAC nurses are some of the lowest paid in the province. McKenna explains what the nurses are asking for.

McKenna says the nurses are willing to negotiate whenever the CCAC is ready to so they can get back to work. No meetings between the two sides have been scheduled at this time. Local care coordinators are picketing at public health and doctors offices in Gravenhurst today.
