Chris Zanetti thanks the community for his time on Huntsville Council

Former Huntsville Councillor Chris Zanetti is thankful for serving his community for three consecutive terms. Zanetti officially stepped down as representative for Stisted, Stephenson and Port Sydney wards on Saturday. He says the best part of his job was working with his constituents on issues that mattered to them.

Zanetti says one of his major accomplishments was being chair of the Finance Committee.

Zanetti says he wouldn’t have been a successful councillor if it wasn’t for his constituents.

Meantime, Mayor Scott Aitchison says he’s disappointed with Zanetti’s decision. He says Zanetti was huge asset to the team.

Now that there’s an empty seat on council, Aitchison says at their next regular meeting, council must declare his seat vacant.

Aitchison says town staff is working on a report outlining all options available and the associated costs. The next council meeting is on Feb. 23.
