School boards partner with business community to address need for skilled labour

School boards are joining forces to help skilled labour in Simcoe County. The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) and Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) have announced they’re teaming up to recruit high school students into a precision medal-cutting program. Grade 12 students accepted will get a head start in their apprenticeship, while at the same time earning credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The eight-week program is a basic level apprenticeship course at Georgian College and full time co-operative education program with a local manufacturer. It all starts in September 2014. For more info visit www.scdsb.on.ca.
