Parry Sound high school looking to be invited to District Association hockey team

A high school in Parry Sound and Almaguin wants to be invited to an annual tradition for Nipissing District Association hockey teams.

The North Bay Nugget reports that Near North District School Board Chair David Thompson wants them to be a part of it or something similar.

The event is called the East West where thousands of students from Mattawa, North Bay, and Stugeon Falls cheer on their hockey teams and perform cheers at Memorial Gardens.

Thompson says he wants to include other Near North high schools to keep the event going as student participation is declining.

He says if Parry Sound and Almaguin can’t be a part of the NDA event, then the board will look at doing something separate.
