The Huntsville Curling Club wants to relocate. At council Monday, the club presented their proposal to move from their current location on Veterans Way. Lee Maw says the McCulley-Robertson Sports Complex is their ideal choice.

Club President Noel Campbell says their current 70-year-old building causes many problems, such as parking.

Others issues include being located in a residential area.

Meantime, there’s a lot of support to relocate. John Furner is the club’s Sustainability Committee Chair and says other local sports clubs would benefit from their relocation.

Furner says they spoke with The Huntsville Soccer Club who also recommends a multifunctional facility, which could be used during the curling club’s off season.

The total cost to relocate and upgrade would be about $1.7-million. Council moved the request be taken to the Public Infrastructure and Protective Services Committee for further consideration.
