MaryLynn West-Moynes, former President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Georgian College, has been appointed to the Order of Ontario.
She retired from her post with the college in Oct. 2021.
West-Moynes is one of 26 new appointments.
“Driven by industry and community needs, Dr. MaryLynn West-Moynes has served provincially and internationally to enhance access to and quality in higher education,” the write-up about her accomplishments reads. “As the former President and CEO of Georgian College, she oversaw seven campuses across central Ontario providing access to post-secondary education and training to students in Barrie, Orillia, Owen Sound, Muskoka, Midland, South Georgian Bay and Orangeville. A staunch supporter of student success, she launched 37 new programs, advocated for nursing degrees at Ontario colleges and established a partnership with Lakehead University offering four-year joint degrees.”
Georgian College has a campus in Bracebridge at 111 Wellington St.
The last time someone with Muskoka ties was appointed to the Order of Ontario was when one-time Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP, and Ontario’s 23rd premier, Ernie Eves, was named in 2021.
