No injuries after “heavily involved” structure fire off of Santa’s Village Rd.

A home on Fairlight Glen Cres., off of Santa’s Village Rd., is described as a write-off after a structure fire.

Kevin Plested, Fire Prevention Officer for the Bracebridge Fire Department, says the one person inside when the fire started got out safely. He adds the man didn’t need help from paramedics.

The department responded to the call after noon Tuesday.

He explains the fire started in the home’s garage and soon spread to the home. When firefighters arrived, Plested says the home was “heavily involved.”

There were no fire hydrants near the home, so Plested says the department used shuttle tankers to bring water to the scene. The fire was put out around 2 o’clock, but Plested expects firefighters will be on the scene for a couple more hours putting out hotspots.

He says it’s not known yet how the fire started.
