Council wants more info on possible second entrance to Hanes Road

A second entrance to the new location for the Huntsville Beer Store is going back to committee. At the last council meeting, there was a proposal to build a second entrance on Hanes Road. Councillor Nancy Alcock is also part of the Planning Advisory Committee. She says because she is new to council, she wants to be more informed about the proposal before voting in favour of it.

Alcock says she isn’t looking to stall the project in any way. She says she just wants to make sure she’s making an informed decision. While, some councillors wanted to have more information, others say there was not enough research was done. Councillor Brian Thompson says a traffic study was never really done for that area.

Mayor Scott Aitchison is not happy the second entrance is being put on hold. Aitchison says one of the things the applicant had to do was provide a transportation study from a traffic expert.

The proposal is being sent back to the Planning Advisory Committee for further review.
