Local therapist stresses on de-stressing during the holidays

The holiday season can be stressful. That’s according to local therapist and addictions specialist Warren Broad. Broad says most people tend to focus on what we need more of.

Broad says he has seen this many times through his practice. He says you need to be realistic within your means.

Broad says we have to work with what out realities are and family dynamics. Many of his clients visit him feeling sad or depressed about not having the means to buy that perfect gift, or that they feel obligated to go beyond their means.

He says this type of stress can lead to an increase in addictions like overdrinking. Broad says it’s best to take mental note and be grateful for what you do have and relish in those small moments with family where material things can’t compete.
