Huntsville chosen to participate in 2014 Ontario Child Health Study

The 2014 Ontario Child Health Study is coming to Huntsville. Research Coordinator Laura Duncan says this is being done to update the study which was last done in 1983.

Duncan says they are trying to get new numbers on the physical and mental health of Ontario children aged four to 17 and it was time for Statistics Canada to do an update.

Duncan says the old data makes it difficult for ministries and policy makers to make decisions around kids and mental health. Families in Huntsville were selected based on a number of aspects. Duncan says they want to make sure they get a sample that is representative of the province.

Families will then be contacted by phone or a home visit to learn about the study and asked to participate. The surveys are being done from now until May 2015.
