District council announces 1.8% levy increase for 2014 operating and capital budget

District council has passed its 2014 operating and capital budget. It sees a 1.8 per cent levy increase that will add an extra $6.54 a year in property taxes for properties with an assessed value of $200,000. The budget is fuelled this year by items like a $486,900 police services cost increase and a $130, 517 increase to ambulance service costs. Roads is one of the biggest expenditures at over $23,000,000.
