Over $20,000 raised at this year's Muskoka Novel Marathon

The 2014 Muskoka Novel Marathon has already surpassed their fundraising goal and could raise more in the next few hours. So far the event has raised $20,593.15. These are prelimiary numbers. The marathon ran all weekend and continues today at the Active Living Centre in Huntsville. Top fundraiser went to Bracebridge’s Cheryl Cooper who raised over $3,370.

Fourty writers are still competing for Best Novel in two categories and have until 8pm to complete their times. All the money raised is going to the YMCA’s Literacy Services in Huntsville. Team Leader and MNM participant Nancy West says these funds will help expand instructor hours, so they can offer evening classes. It will also help update their computer equipment. The final total raised from this event will be announced later this year.
