Bracebridge Salvation Army community assistance tops $250,000

It goes to show how far a helping hand reaches. The Bracebridge Salvation Army reports it was able to hand out 340 hampers of food to those in need this past December. Over 5,000 toys, gifts, gift cards and clothing were also distributed throughout the community.  In total, $47,600 worth of food and $75,600 worth of toys, clothing and gifts were donated. The Salvation Army stays busy the other 11 months of the year too. Efforts like helping with rent, bus ticket assistance and emergencies keeps them busy. The Bracebridge Salvation Army says community assistance is estimated to have topped $250,000 in 2013.
