Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is adding to its local obstetrics services. Obstetrical Units at its Bracebridge and Huntsville hospital sites are taking part in a professional development program that will enhance patient safety, quality improvement, and collaboration in obstetrics. The MOREOB program addresses risk and patient safety in the birthing units. It aims to create a consistent level of care amongst all physicians, midwives and nursing through standardized procedures. Local midwife Dianne Smith says the program is also valuable for midwives and that it recognizes teamwork and communication are essential in providing effective obstetrical care.
